So, the question is, does this guy like monsters and is trying to save them. Or does he just want a war? I assume because of the bad vibes everyone gets from him, it is closer to the latter. But would be interesting if he was just going about trying to help the monsters in a different way.

I'm hoping the dude that can be summoned by the necklace will be the ML. I know he won't but he'd be better than this dude.

The premise of the story is interesting but I think the male lead is going to be too unredeemable to continue

...of course it's demonic energy. what a convenient scapegoat for all things horrible (safe to say, there's no holy/divine energy anywhere in the story so far)
