© UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS © 利兹大学 (Semester 2, 2024/2025) Assessed Coursework LUBS5592M Research Methods and Practice for Consultants 100% Assignment |
You are provided with four company scenarios – each of these scenarios is related to a set of business/management consulting issues. Please select only one scenario to design a research methodology plan for a potential management consulting project. You may develop relevant research questions that you think are helpful and relevant to explore for the chosen scenario. Please make sure to include the full set of 4 elements (see page 2) to discuss the research method elements of the project. (Please note this assignment focuses on the research methodology part of a project/dissertation based on given scenarios. You are not required to conduct the research that you are proposing, nor required to write about the findings/results.) Scenarios (Please see the Scenarios Brief Sheet for the details of each scenario): Scenario 1: Management Consulting Project - Strategic marketing analysis to support business development for a new vegan skincare range. Scenario 2: Management Consulting Project - Evaluating employer awareness and insights around post-study work visas and potential employment opportunities for international graduates Scenario 3: A case study on “Insights for increasing audience engagement with ‘Grassroots’ musical events and work in Wakefield”. Scenario 4: A case study on performance assessment “How Amazon automatically tracks and fires warehouse workers for ‘productivity’”. Please include the following elements to discuss the research method elements of the project: Explain the key problem and the related research question/s that are useful to solve the business issue. (approximately 500 words; 20%). Identify the philosophical orientation (ontological and epistemological) that underpins your proposed research methodology. Discuss why you have chosen this orientation; make sure you justify the same and highlight how it compares to other possible ones which are not suitable for your research. (approximately 500 words; 20%) Explain and justify the proposed research methodology (quantitative, qualitative or mixed) and research method (survey, interview, etc.) that you intend to adopt. When doing so describe issues related to methods such as data collection process and explain the proposed data analysis approach/principles (regression analysis, thematic analysis, etc) that you intend to adopt after your data is gathered. Consider what tools/techniques (SPSS, for coding, etc) you want to use when collecting and analysing your data. (approximately 1000 words; 40%) What are the ethical challenges that you might face in undertaking this research? What plans do you expect to make to help ensure that the research project is undertaken ethically? (approximately 500 words; 20%) The assignment should be grounded in the relevant literature related to the chosen scenario and must be correctly referenced. Your arguments should be strongly evidenced, and standard academic conventions should be used. This assignment is categorised RED for use of GenAI: you must not use any content generated by Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in any part of this work. Specifically, in this assignment, you must write the content of all of the sections yourself, and do all of the research, without GenAI assistance. This is because they test the learning outcomes and therefore, it’s important to demonstrate what you, as an individual scholar, can do. The critical comment on the literature, research idea and design for investigating it, and the questions in the research instrument, must all be created by you, and reflect your own thinking and learning as described in the learning outcomes (LOs). The fact that there is no GenAI allowed in this assignment, is known to the markers, who will mark accordingly. Please do not worry disproportionately about making your work perfect or overly formal, particularly if this distracts you from the core aims; these are not things we mark for. As long as your work is understandable and your ideas are clear, we will be able to mark them. Do not be tempted to use GenAI fraudulently to make things ‘perfect’, there is no benefit, and it might lead you into trouble. If you are struggling with the assignment for any reason, please speak to the module leader. |
Assignments should be a maximum of 2500 words in length.
作业长度应不超过 2500字。
All coursework assignments that contribute to the assessment of a module are subject to a word limit, as specified on the assessment brief. The word limit is an extremely important aspect of good academic practice, and must be adhered to. Unless stated otherwise in the relevant module handbook (if one has been provided), the word count includes EVERYTHING (i.e. all text in the main body of the assignment including summaries, subtitles, contents pages, tables, supportive material whether in footnotes or in-text references) except the main title, reference list and/or bibliography and any appendices. It is not acceptable to present matters of substance, which should be included in the main body of the text, in the appendices (“appendix abuse”). It is not acceptable to attempt to hide words in graphs and diagrams; only text which is strictly necessary should be included in graphs and diagrams.
You are required to adhere to the word limit specified and state an accurate word count on the cover page of your assignment brief. Your declared word count must be accurate, and should not mislead. Making a fraudulent statement concerning the work submitted for assessment could be considered academic malpractice and investigated as such. If the amount of work submitted is higher than that specified by the word limit or that declared on your word count, this may be reflected in the mark awarded and noted through individual feedback given to you.
