I am just drafting up my A2, and I noticed this point here:

Does this mean we have to specify a specific model for the switches and routers? I assumed 'type' meant like 'core' / 'distribution' etc but unsure if we have to specify an actual commercial model.

You can give generic information of the device with generic details, like number of ports, routing capabilities, speed of network connections, routing modules, network cable types, category etc...

OR 或
You may select any particular Cisco model router or switch or AP etc and use that specific model in your design as long as it suites your design and explain them.

With regards the main office, there is no information give but you may assume the building to be across the road and assume all the services of the company are located in that main building, The new buildings will be connected to the main building and also have the access to their business services and internet.

Just one more thing- so assuming the new building has everything, is it not necessary to depict the servers (e.g. files, database servers, and firewalls), we just need to show the relevant device(s) on how each building is connected to main building ?

The server room for the new buildings are in the ground floor where the building router resides, along with it you can have the dhcp and dns server. Yes the other servers are all located in the main building or main office, so you don't need to depict them.
