The purpose of this quotation is to provide safety assessment studies for DHA oil product produced with Schizochytrium sp. to support European Commission (EC) application and safety assessment by EFSA. The strain is not genetically modified, and the intended use of the product is a novel food. EFSA guidance on the characterisation of microorganisms used as feed additives or as production organisms, 2018, and the EFSA statement on the requirements for whole genome sequence analysis of microorganisms intentionally used in the food chain, 2021, are used as the main guidance documents.

Estimated time of expert services used is presented at each line item. If the analysis is more complex than expected, the customer will be communicated of the estimated time required to complete the analysis without a delay. Possible meetings arranged with Biosafe during the project, all expert work and consultation related to additional questions or requests from the customer are invoiced separately. All additional work is invoiced at 225 €/hour.

Project coordination ensures timely and correct execution of the work. The work includes, but is not limited to:

The price includes 75 hours of expert work, and it is per product/strain. Exceeding hours are invoiced on an hourly basis (200 €/h). The quote for the main study is provided after the completion of the preliminary study. The customer will be contacted to discuss how to continue or to send new samples in case:

Confirmation of possible colonies by PCR

This analysis is mandatory when colonies are detected, and Biosafe will inform the customer in such case. In case microalgae colonies are detected, they are identified by PCR using production strain-specific primers to confirm whether the colony represents the production strain. The price includes confirmation for the first 10 colonies. Additional 2200€ for each following 10 colonies up to 50 colonies total. If more than 50 colonies should be identified, the customer is contacted to discuss the contamination and possible need for new samples. Price includes 20€ of biological material waste disposal costs.
