The diagrams illustrate the average proportions of three types of nutrients in typical meals, which can be unhealthy if consumed too much. The three types are sodium, saturated fat and added sugar. The data was taken in the United States of America.
The first chart shows the average percentages of sodium. Dinner accounts for the most sodium at 43%. Breakfast and snacks display an equal proportion of sodium consumed, with each of them accounting for 14%. At nearly double, 29% of all sodium is consumed at lunch times. The second chart shows the percentages of saturated fat in meals. By eating dinner, 37% of saturated fat is consumed. Lunch contributes to a consumption of 26% of saturated fat, followed by snacks with 21% and breakfast with 16%. The last chart illustrates the proportions of added sugar. Snacks account for the highest amount of added sugar at 42%. At nearly half, 23% of added sugars are consumed at dinner times, compared to 19% at lunch and 16% at breakfast.
All in all, the diagrams show that at every typical meal time in the USA at least 14% of nutrients that can be unhealthy if eaten too much are consumed.
