This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Non-ferrous Metals Standards Committee. It is the second metric revision of BS 2874 , which was originally published in 1962 and subsequently revised in 1969 and it supersedes the 1969 edition, which is withdrawn. It is one in a series of standards for copper and copper alloys in various wrought forms, intended for general engineering purposes. In this revisıon, due regard has been given to the work of the international Organization for Standardization (ISO) and in particular to Technical Committee ISO/TC 26 . Copper and copper alloys, in respect of chemical compositions, testing requirements, properties and dimensional tolerances. The demand for nine of the alloys included in the last edition of this standard is considered to be insufficient to warrant their retention and they have consequently been withdrawn. In this revision, and for the purposes of this standard only, each of the alloys has been placed in one of three material groups, designated I, II and III, used to specify the dimensional tolerances in tables 5 to 9 . The tolerances specified have been reviewed in the light of current demand and practice. 1 Scope 1 范围
This British Standard specifies requirements for copper and copper alloy rods and sections intended for machining and general engineering purposes (other than forging) having a diameter or thickness greater than 1.6 mm . 2 Definitions 2 定义
For the purposes of this British Standard the following definitions apply. 就本英国标准而言,以下定义适用。
2.1 rod. A solid product of round, square, rectangular or regular polygonal cross section, unuform throughout its length, usually supplied in straight lengths, and which if rectangular in cross section has a thıckness that exceeds one tenth of the width. 2.1 杆。圆形、正方形、矩形或正多边形横截面的实心积,在其整个长度上呈不成形,通常以直线长度提供,如果横截面为矩形,则其长度超过宽度的十分之一。

3 Designations for material conditions 3 材料条件的名称
For the purposes of this British Standard, the following designations apply for the material conditions: 就本英国标准而言,以下名称适用于材料条件:

4 Information to be supplied by the purchaser 4 购买者应提供的信息
The following information shall be supplied by the purchaser at the time of the enquiry and order: 买方在查询和订购时应提供以下信息:

NOTE 2. In normal commercial practice, two levels of certification of the quality of the product are avallable at the request of the purchaser, as follows. 注2.在正常的商业实践中,应购买者的要求,可以对产品质量进行两个级别的认证,如下所示。
(a) Statement of compfiance. This is usually available from the supplier when traceability of the product is not a requirement. The goods will have been manufactured to comply with the conditions and requirements of the purchaser in accordance with the supplier's quality control procedures. (b) Certificate of conformity. This is normally supplied wuth material for which the purchaser has requested traceabulity to a manufacturing batch. 5 Chemical composition 5 化学成分
The chemical composition of the rods and sections shall be as given for the appropriate material in tables 1 to 4. 棒材和截面的化学成分应与表1至表4中给出的适当材料相同。
NOTE. Table 13 in appendix gives cross-references for the wrought copper designations in both this standard and BS 1433 to the equivalent raw material designations in BS 6017 for coppe refinery shapes. 注意。附录中的表 13 给出了本标准和 BS 1433 中的锻铜名称与 BS 6017 中用于铜精炼厂形状的等效原材料名称的交叉参考。
6 Tensile properties 6 拉伸性能
The tensile properties of the rods and sections shall be as given in tables 1 to 4 when tested in accordance with appendix E. 在根据附录 E 进行测试时,棒材和截面的拉伸性能应如表 1 至 4 所示。
NOTE. Rods and sections in the copper alloys C 112, C 113 CC 101 and CC 102 are supplied in the TH conditıon only. These temperature maxima are given for information only; they are based on the lowest temperature that, if maintained for , would give a reduction in hardness equivalent to of the difference between the hardest condition, as received, and the sof test possible condition of the alloy. 这些温度最高值仅供参考;它们基于最低温度,如果保持该 温度,则硬度 的降低相当于所接收的硬度条件与合金的SOF测试可能条件之间的差值。
7 Residual stress level 7 残余应力水平
The rods and sections shall be supplied as either (a) or (b) as follows. 杆材和截面应按以下 (a) 或 (b) 方式提供。
(a) Specially processed to achıeve a residual (internal) stress level which is sufficiently low to pass the mercurous nitrate test (see appendix F). When samples of such rods or sectıons are tested in accordance with appendix they shall show no evidence of cracking upon immediate examination with the unaided eye, corrected for normal visıon if necessary. 8 Resistance to dezincification (applicable to alloy only) 8 抗脱锌性( 仅适用于合金)
When tested in accordance with appendix , the maxımum depth of dezıncification of brass rod and section in the M or O condition shall be in the direction perpendicular to the extrusion or rolling direction and in the direction parallel to the extruston or rolling directıon. 根据附录进行测试 时,黄 铜棒和截面在M或O条件下的最大脱氮深度应 在垂直于挤压或轧制方向的方向上, 以及平行于extruston或轧制方向的方向上。
NOTE. Rods and sections of bress C2 132 sunplied in the M or condition are subjected to heat treatment in the range to during manufacture. 9 Freedom from hydrogen embrittlement (applicable to copper C 103 only) 9 无氢脆(仅适用于铜 C 103)
When tested in accordance with BS 5899, rods and sections in copper C 103 shall show no evidence of cracking when the stressed surface is examined with the unaided eye, corrected for normal vision if necessary, thus indicating freedom from hydrogen embrittlement. 当根据 BS 5899 进行测试时,当用肉眼检查受力表面时,铜 C 103 中的棒材和截面不应出现开裂迹象,必要时校正正常视力,从而表明没有氢脆。
The test pieces shall be of a convenient length and of either the full cross section of the materiai or a convenıent thick ness or diameter not greater than 12 mm . Any edges shall be rounded or smoothed. 10 Tolerances on dimensions for rods 10 棒材尺寸公差
The diameter, width across flats and thickness for rods shall be within the tolerances given in tables 5 to 9 for the appropriate material group, sıze and shape. The 'normal' tolerances shall apply, unless the purchaser has expressed an option for 'close' tolerance material in the order (see (a) of note 1 to clause 4). 棒材的直径、宽度和厚度应在表 5 至 9 中给出的公差范围内,适用于适当的材料组、尺寸和形状。“正常”公差应适用,除非购买者在订单中表示了“接近”公差材料的选择(见第4条注1的(a))。

11 Selection of test samples 11 测试样品的选择
11.1 General 11.1 一般规定
When tests are required to be carried out to verify that a batch of rods or sections complies with this standard (see (b), (c) and (d) of note 1 to clause 4), samples for analysis, tensile and mercurous nitrate tests shall be taken in accordance with 11.2 . 当需要进行测试以验证一批棒材或型材是否符合本标准时(见第4条注1的(b)、(c)和(d)),应按照11.2的规定进行分析、拉伸和硝酸汞测试。
NOTE. For samplıng, the rods or sections shall be grouped into the batch sizes (masses) gıven in table 10. 对于取样,棒材或截面应按表 10 中的批次尺寸(质量)gıven 分组。
For each test (ı.e. analysis, tensile or mercurous nitrate) one sample shall be taken at random from each batch and from any remaining part of a batch. 12 Expression of results 12 结果的表达

Should any one of the test pieces fail the tensile test (see appendix EY, two further samples from the same batch shall be permitted to be selected for testing. One of these samples shall be taken from the same length of rod or section as that from which the original failed test sample was taken, unless that length had been withdrawn by the supplier. 如果任何一个试件未通过拉伸试验(见附录EY),则应允许从同一批次中再选择两个样品进行测试。其中一个样品的取材长度应与原始未通过测试样品的长度相同,除非供应商已撤回该长度。
Should both of the further samples pass the tensile test, the batch represented shall be deemed to comply with the tensile property requirements of this standard. NOTE. Should any one of the test pieces fail the mercurous nitrate test (see appendix F), the batch of rods or sectıons represented by the failed test piece shall be permitted to be retested after the whole batch has been subjected to a stress relieving treatment. Should any of the test pieces fail the dezincification resistance test (see appendix G), two further samples from the same batch shall be selected for testing. For the purposes of determinıng compliance with compositional limits and mechanical properties (not dimensional tolerances), an observed value or a calculated value obtained from the analysis or test is rounded to the same number of decimal places as used in the relevant standard in expressing the specified limit.
