This assignment serves as a basis for the design, construction, and production of a single-purpose machine for the customer Cooper Standard. The project must include design, construction, production, assembly, transport, installation of equipment, operator and maintenance training, and participation in the start-up at the customer's site according to the customer's needs.

Counters

Partial counter: Resettable by operator. To count the pipes checked during the production batch.

Management of testing parameters: Recipes

The general control system of the machine must be able to recall different recipes containing all testing parameters used for every tube reference or tube family. Supervisor engineer will set each control via the specific interface panel.

Calibration cycle

Target of the calibration cycle is to establish the relationship between the reading of the spectrometer and the real leak rate

It means to calculate the conversion factor (usually called “K” factor) between these two values.

Calibration is made using a calibrated leak connected to the vacuum chamber.

By opening the calibration valve, the calibrated leak is put in communication with the vacuum chamber and the machine measure the increase of helium into the chamber

The machine will automatically compare the known value of the calibrated leak and the measurement of the spectrometer defining the “K-factor’’ of the machine, which is displayed and saved into the parameters.

The value of the K-factor must stay between an upper and a lower limit. If not the calibration is not accepted and must be repeated.

Sniffing mode cycle

This cycle can be used to re-test the rejected pipes (at low pressure) and to locate the leaks. Cycle is performed using a manual sniffer and vacuum chamber open as described below:

Helium recycling

Helium recycling principle The helium recovered from the parts is stored into low pressure tank firstly. When the helium in the low- pressure tank reaches the set storage pressure, the compressor pressurizes the helium from the low-pressure tank to the high-pressure tank and stores it in the high pressure tank for recycling.

Concertation of helium could be adjusted automatically.

13.3 Technician support

Cooper expects great technician support typical advice and suggestion should be free.

In the case of catastrophic failure of imported equipment, Cooper will get technical support via telephone in 4 hours. This support may or may not include a CS communication server connection. Sometimes, international vendors will be required to connect equipment through remote connections for troubleshooting and diagnosis. Local vendor contacts and phone numbers must be supported 7days per week.
